June 3 @ 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Event Navigation
In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), please join the ElderSAFE Center for an interactive discussion on older adults and technology. Current research shows that older adults are using technology now more than ever as they embrace the internet and social media to stay connected to their communities and loved ones. While for many older adults, the internet is their gateway to vital information and resources, most still fall behind in their usage and access to technology compared to the rest of the population.
The speakers will share some of the associated risks and challenges older adults face in using technology, common online scams affecting older adults, and discuss tips for older adults to stay safe and digitally connected to their communities and loved ones.
This webinar is intended for older adults, caregivers, and professionals who work with older adults.
Speakers:
•Lorena Bailey, Investigator, Montgomery County Maryland Office of Consumer Protection
• Shivali Haribhakti, Regional Director, Adults and Technology Services (OATS), Senior Planet Montgomery
