Preventing, Recognizing and Reporting Financial Fraud, Scams, and Exploitation
In honor of National Fraud Awareness Month in August, the ElderSAFE Center is hosting a webinar on financial fraud, scams, and exploitation. Financial abuse is estimated to cost older Americans over $2.6 billion every year.
This webinar is designed for Villages, community members, caregivers, and professionals that work with older adults. Experts will discuss not only the most common scams committed by strangers but also the dynamics of financial exploitation from a trusted family member or friend. Attendees will learn about resources to help protect themselves and the older adults in their lives from financial abuse.
Speakers:
Dina Rivera, Legal Assistant at the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office
Amy R. Mix, Chief, Elder Justice Section, Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia
