Rockville, Md. – May 6, 2025 – In recognition of Jewish American Heritage Month this May, residents at Ring House, an independent living residence on the campus of Charles E. Smith Life Communities, have organized a series of celebrations honoring local Jewish American leaders and their contributions to the community.

The resident-led celebration will feature tributes, remarks and musical performances honoring:

  • Bruce J. Lederman, president and CEO of Charles E. Smith Life Communities.
  • Frieda Enoch, director of the Coming of Age program at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington, and accomplished vocalist.
  • Seth Kibel, award-winning featured soloist.

ā€œJewish heritage is an integral part of life at Ring House, from holiday celebrations to leisure programs,ā€ said Ring House Executive Director Bret Stine. ā€œThe resident committee felt strongly that Jewish American Heritage Month deserved its own spotlight to reflect more broadly on ways Jewish Americans have shaped the country, and how specific leaders have touched our local community.ā€

Gary Moroff, the resident leading the event planning committee, added, ā€œThese events are a testament to our shared commitment to Jewish values and identity. It’s important to honor Jewish Americans who have dedicated their lives to service of others, whether through activities, education or the arts. Their contributions are an important reflection of our community, and a powerful reminder for this and future generations.ā€

Events will take place throughout May and are open to Ring House residents and invited guests. The tribute to Frieda Enoch on May 12 at 11 a.m. will be open to the public. Registration is requested.

Jewish American Heritage Month, first proclaimed by President George W. Bush in 2006, is held annually in May to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Jewish Americans to our nation’s history, culture, society and more.
