Community educator Carolyn Schick will share her journey of caring for her parents, focusing on how Jolene Brackey’s book Creating Moments of Joy transformed her approach to dementia care.
During this interactive presentation, Carolyn will model and share anecdotes illustrating how she embraced her parents’ reality and used dynamic storytelling, a spirit of adventure, and a growth mindset to build new connections and create moments of joy amidst cognitive change and dementia.
Susan Wranik, author and speech-language pathologist, will offer strategies for improving communication among healthcare providers, caregivers and those they serve. Wranik will focus on the challenges working with patients with cognitive decline and how healthcare providers and caregivers can more effectively care for and communicate with their patients.
