Workshop Summary

This interactive workshop helps older adults understand the key components of mental wellness and explore practical strategies for maintaining emotional balance, cognitive vitality, and a strong sense of purpose. Through brief discussions, and simple activities participants will learn how to manage stress, build supportive connections, and engage in habits that foster lifelong mental health. The session emphasizes strengths-based, empowering approaches tailored to the needs and experiences of older adults.

Speaker: Dr. Daniel Burow, clinical director, Sailor Health

Psychologist and author Dr. Daniel Burow is recognized as one of today’s preeminent voices on geriatric mental healthcare. He began his career as a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine.  Throughout his career, Dr. Burow has been committed to improving the mental health and well-being of older adults, ensuring they receive the compassionate care they deserve.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the core components of mental wellness and how they relate to emotional, cognitive, and social health.
  • Practice at least two techniques to enhance mental well-being—such as mindfulness, gratitude, or social engagement.
  • Develop a personal plan to sustain mental wellness through positive routines and community connection.

CE Credits for Social Workers:

Inspired Memory Care, provider #1756, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit.
