Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC) has been awarded Platinum-level certification in LGBTQ cultural competency by SAGECare, an inclusive care leader.

The certification demonstrates CESLC’s commitment to meeting the needs of all older adults, including the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender populations. Platinum certification shows that more than 80% of CESLC’s employees have successfully completed LGBTQ+ cultural competency training, along with consultation on LGBTQ+ aging-related issues.

Rooted in Dignity and Compassion

As the nation’s oldest nonprofit dedicated to LGBTQ+ older adults, SAGECare’s recognition means CESLC has created a warm and welcoming community.

“As an organization committed to Jewish values rooted in dignity and compassion, we’re proud to receive this certification,” says Brenda L. Rice, vice president of operations at CESLC. “I’m very proud that all our associates now have additional tools and training to competently care and support our residents and better serve the LGBTQ+ community,” she adds.
